How to make your own organic garden fertilizer in 2 minutes

Updated: Jun 12

FREE, SAFE, ORGANIC, HOMEMADE

Shop bought fertliser is full of potentially harmful chemicals not to mention it can cost a small fortune. Here's my you tube video showing how I make my own fertilizer in 2 minutes but I will list some other ingredient ideas below the video so do read on.

This homemade organic garden fertilizer is free and safe and can be made over and over again often from weeds and left over kitchen waste which believe it or not can create the same nutrients in your homemade fertilizer as the expensive stull in the garden centre.

When thinking about ingredients for your homemade fertiliser think about 3 things:

Roots, fruits, and leaves.

Why? Because this is where all your NPK's are and this is what you want in your fertilizer. So, large leafy weeds such as dandelions are a great source of NPK's and even more nutrients for your liquid fertilizer. In fact I have another video on that which you can watch here:

In general (and this is really simplifying) the roots of plants contain more nitrogen, the leaves, the more phospherous and the fruits contain more of the potassium. But most parts of the plant will contain varying levels of each nutrient therefore making them ideal as fertilisers.

Nettles, Dandelions and comfrey are well know as extremely effective for use in making liquid fertilisers, but grass is also very good if you need phosphorus and banana skins are fantastic for potassium, great for feeding those hungry tomatoes. In fact if you have any rotten, or otherwise spoiled tomatoes you can even use them.

If you don't want to make a feed you can of course just compost the same plants and they will

give you a rich natural fertiliser in the way of compost but you will have to wait a little longer for it all to break down.
