I show you how I use a recycled water bottle mutliple ways in the garden
I used to be a big time consumer when my kids were young. Mainly I bought everything to save time but there was always something nagging inside me about the huge amount of money I was wasting on products, many of which had no long term use or value and often only had one single use. The damage to the environment of such constant consumerism was something else that haunted me. Once you see thousands of acres of our beautiful natural world ripped up by diggers and turned into a hellscape for the disposal of useless items nobody really needed in the first place, you never forget it.
So I yearned to carve out some space and time to become, more self sufficient and less damaging to the environment by consuming a great deal less. I used to buy an awful lot of things I didn't need, or as in this case, I bought things then binned them, when in fact I could put them to good use in the garden which would save me from buying other things I didn't need.
One of those products I used to bin was plastic water bottles. I got into the habit of buying them when my kids were small. Bottles of water for school, for picnics and then I like carbonated water, so I would buy some of those for me.
The idea of gardens originally was to sustain us during tough times when we were poor, which involved making things you needed yourself, and collecting your own seeds. No one ran off to the DIY store or supermarket to spend a load of money before they even got started. But that is certainly what we have all been conditioned to do these days.
There was recently a study suggesting modern day gardening is so bad for the environment, largely because of all the plastic people buy, unecessary tools, peat and pesticides. All these expenses are so unecessary to create a garden and as anyone knows who follows my you tube channel, I want to get back to the older more sustainable and natural ways of gardening.
The goal of my you tube gardening channel is of course to help save you money and show you ways to circumnavigate the high costs of gardening, by either making things yourself, or recycling household items you may already have. One of those items is the plastic waterbottle.
Check out my video below on how you can save money recycling your plastic waterbottles for a variety of uses in the garden.
